Fleeing Wanted Notice, He Took a "Friend's" Advice to Illegally Cross into Vietnam, Only to Be Abandoned Midway; After Days of Wandering, This Young Chinese Man Chose to Turn Himself In

From Nanning to Hanoi, from a four-wheeled truck to a vehicle switch midway, a Chinese national wanted by authorities followed the guidance of a "friend" on social media, making his way illegally into Vietnam, only to prepare to walk into a Vietnamese public security organ and turn himself in after days of wandering. A routine patrol by the police of Đại Thanh Commune (xã Đại Thanh) in Hanoi revealed the full story of this illegal entry and hiding case. According to information reported by the Vietnamese media outlet anninhthudo, at around 14:00 on August 21, while patrolling and inspecting their jurisdiction, police in Đại Thanh Commune, Hanoi, discovered a suspicious-looking foreign man.
The police immediately approached him and, in accordance with the law, conducted an administrative check to verify his identity and background. During the check, the foreign man identified himself as Chen Chang Hao (transliteration), male, of Chinese nationality, born on May 8, 1985.
At the Đại Thanh Commune public security office, Chen Chang Hao stated: after learning that he was wanted, he had been evading investigation by the authorities since 2023.
Around August 2026, he contacted a friend he had met through social media, and this friend advised Chen Chang Hao to go to Vietnam to evade the wanted notice.
On August 17, 2026, following this friend's guidance, Chen Chang Hao went to Nanning. There, a four-wheeled truck picked him up and took him toward Vietnam. Along the way, Chen Chang Hao was transferred to another vehicle to continue the journey.
After entering Vietnam, he was taken to a hotel, and the people accompanying him then left. However, Chen Chang Hao was unable to check in for accommodation himself, and the friend who had brought him into the country also lost contact.
Left with no choice, he could only leave the hotel first, and afterward Chen Chang Hao wandered in Vietnam for two or three days. After getting in touch with relatives, they urged him to go to a Vietnamese public security organ to report his illegal entry and turn himself in.
Chen Chang Hao then prepared to go to the Đại Thanh Commune police to recount what had happened and surrender himself, hoping to receive leniency under the law, and then encountered the patrolling police.
Upon discovering this situation, the Đại Thanh Commune police immediately reported it to the Hanoi Municipal Public Security leadership and, together with relevant units, launched verification to determine as quickly as possible the person's identity, entry and exit situation, and whether he was involved in any public security issues. After verification, Chen Chang Hao was indeed a wanted subject. Subsequently, the Đại Thanh Commune police, in coordination with relevant operational departments of the Hanoi Municipal Public Security, the relevant functional bureaus of the Ministry of Public Security, and the border defense station at the Friendship International Border Gate in Lang Son Province, completed all necessary procedures.
On September 11, 2026, the Đại Thanh Commune police, together with relevant units, handed Chen Chang Hao over to the relevant functional authorities in accordance with regulations, ensuring the entire handover process was safe and smooth.
