Xi Jinping Holds Talks with German President Steinmeier

Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Beijing on Friday (October 30).

President Steinmeier arrived in Hefei, the capital of Anhui Province, on Monday (October 27) to begin a five-day state visit to China.

This is his first visit to China in nearly eight years.

On Thursday (29), Steinmeier delivered a speech at Peking University, stressing that Germany and Europe do not want to "decouple" from China and oppose the world sliding back into bloc confrontation, but he also called on China to adjust its economic policies regarding issues such as China-EU trade imbalances, market access, and the supply of critical raw materials.
