Asian Americans Advancing Justice Southern California Applauds Voters' Enthusiastic Participation in Election - Sing Tao Daily

As ballots continue to be counted across the country in the 2026 midterm elections, Asian Americans Advancing Justice Southern California (AJSOCAL) is heartened to see voters demonstrate tremendous enthusiasm and active participation, exercising this fundamental right and making their voices heard.

This election once again demonstrates the power of democratic practice.

Voters across the country expressed their concerns and priorities through the ballot, demanding accountability from government and collectively shaping the direction of future governance.

Voters' active participation reflects society's desire for change, greater equality, and respect for the constitutional rights and freedoms enjoyed by all Americans.

AJSOCAL Chief Executive Officer Dahni Tsuboi said: "At this moment of great significance for democracy, we are honored to stand alongside our communities.

In the face of the profound divisions that the current administration's policies and actions have created among communities, we remain hopeful that the voices voters expressed in this election will lead to policies that better serve everyone.

As election results continue to come in, we expect Asian American voters to once again demonstrate their growing influence as a pivotal voting bloc in elections across the country—not only this year, but in future elections as well." Before Election Day, we actively defended the right to vote through legal action and community advocacy.

We joined a federal lawsuit challenging targeted suppression and intimidation of naturalized citizens, and partnered with the Fair Elections Center to submit an amicus brief opposing the differential treatment of California mail ballots based on inaccurate citizenship data.

In addition, we called on sheriffs in nine Southern California counties to commit to not using county sheriff personnel and resources to assist federal immigration enforcement in conducting immigration enforcement operations at or near polling places, in order to protect voters' right to vote.

We sincerely thank all voters, volunteers, and community organizations who helped more people participate in this election.

As ballots continue to be counted and election results are officially certified, continuing to defend every voter's voice remains essential work.
