Guess people might have guessed wrong from the title lol
Today my car got hit by a shopping cart that wanted to be free in the Costco parking lot — another customer didn't keep control of their cart. Tesla caught the person on camera, but didn't capture the other party's license plate. I went to ask the Costco manager, and they said they'd check the surveillance footage first and let us know if they can find the person, but ultimately we'd still have to file a police report to get that information.
I can't really say whether the damage is serious or not — the rear taillight housing is cracked. It's a Model Y Juniper. Does this thing require replacing the entire rear taillight strip?
If we can find this person, is there still a chance to negotiate compensation? If not, I'll just have to fix it myself. I'll go ask Tesla tomorrow roughly how much it costs, and see whether to use insurance...
Tesla official part is 900... Looks like this thing can only be replaced as a whole unit...
