Is It Really Safe to Stay at Newly Opened Hotels in the US?

Staying at Hyatt Studios Mechanicsburg today. The moment I walked into the lobby, there was a strong smell of renovation, and once I got into the room, the smell was so strong it was almost nauseating. The front desk said they just opened on the 15th. Is this level of smell really okay?

It's no surprise that a newly opened place has some smell, but when the room is so fumy it makes you feel sick, that's more than just a regional difference.
