Turns out UA flight attendants can see who's doing a Status Match

Matched to UA 1K using Delta Diamond, and on today's UA flight the flight attendant made a point of coming over to say hi, mentioning she saw it was a match from Delta, asking how the experience was going and telling me to find her anytime if I needed anything.

That said, honestly the UA 1K experience is way better than Delta Diamond—pre-boarding + free snacks and drinks in economy + being able to see discounted award tickets. Only shame is Chase never lets me get a card with the 5/24 rule.

It was still a bit unexpected that the flight attendant proactively brought up a status match. But a single experience probably isn't enough to go on—would other routes or lounges be the same way? I'd like to see more people's feedback.

If you're planning to keep UA's 1K status going forward, first confirm the validity period and requalification requirements that the status match gives you—don't just look at the immediate benefits. Also, if you're currently blocked by Chase's 5/24 rule, you could first check whether any other Chase cards fall outside the 5/24 restriction, or wait until your credit history is a bit more established before trying—provided you don't have any large loan needs in the near term.
