Money-saving tricks for buying a TV (or home appliances)

Thinking about buying the S90H and some other stuff on Black Friday. Here are the approaches I can think of so far

  1. Wait for Safeway's 10x points deal to buy Uber/DoorDash/Instacart gift cards, and pay with the Citi Custom Cash card /

Pros: Roughly equivalent to 25-20% off

Cons: Too much hassle, and no purchase protection

Buy Best Buy gift cards directly through DoorDash at 10% off, stacked with CFF 5x points?

Pros: 15% off, saves more time and effort than the above

Cons: No purchase protection

  1. Just put it on the Delta Reserve card, counting it as part of the spend toward a card upgrade

Pros: Has purchase protection, etc. Saves the most time and effort

Cons: Spent more money

Wait for Samsung website cashback

Any other approaches, fellow experts? For example, how to stack cashback sites, PayPal, etc.

There's a missing step in the gift card route: it's worth first confirming whether buying Best Buy gift cards through DoorDash reliably gets you 10% off and whether there's a limit; also, if you convert gift cards into Best Buy cards and then buy a TV, the refund method may differ when you return it, which affects the final discount.

Gift card promotions and cashback platform tax rules vary from state to state, so check whether your local area has any restrictions before you buy—don't just assume that what works elsewhere applies to you.

If you decide to go the gift card route, first list out exactly what you need to buy and the amounts, buy only the denominations that cover just what you need, and use them up as soon as you get them. The upside is a guaranteed discount, provided you can accept that there's no purchase protection and that you're in a weaker position if the card is lost or the merchant runs into problems.

I'd like to follow up on the Samsung rebate part: when Rakuten and PayPal are stacked, is the calculation based on the original product price or the discounted price, and how long does it take for the rebate to be credited? If these rules aren't clearly stated, the actual discount may not be as high as expected.
