Effective December 1, 2026, 𝕏 Money Stored Value Accounts that are eligible to earn 6.00% annual percentage yield (“APY”) will earn that rate on the first $150,000 of deposits. Any amount greater than $150,000 will earn 4.00% APY.

这是被薅疼了吗?是不是多开账户可破?

The impact can vary quite a bit across different regions or groups of people. For example, for large depositors who are used to keeping all their liquid funds in a single account, the portion above 150,000 will see its returns cut by a third outright, which will be quite noticeable; but for most ordinary users whose account balances are far below this threshold, the actual change is almost zero. It also depends on whether the account can be held in joint or trust form—if the rules allow such structures to calculate their limits separately, then the situation is completely different from that of a large individual account.

Opening multiple accounts sounds workable, but you also have to factor in the time and effort of managing them separately—and if the rules later aggregate accounts under the same entity, all that effort will have been for nothing.

Before you rush to open a new account, dig into the official terms and read the sections on account merging and credit limit determination carefully, then make your decision.

When relaying rules that involve interest rates and effective dates, it's best to include the original source or a screenshot of the relevant clause; otherwise, readers will find it hard to tell whether it's an official announcement or a secondhand interpretation. Also, since it doesn't take effect until December 2026, there's a long gap in between, during which policy adjustments, eligibility thresholds, or the scope of application could all change again. I'd suggest keeping an eye out for any follow-up updates and not making long-term financial arrangements based solely on the current version of the information.

I'd like to confirm whether this 6% applies only to newly deposited funds, or whether the existing balance in the account is also recalculated under the new tier. Also, is the 150,000 limit calculated per person or per account? That point is quite important.
