I have some US dollars deposited in a bank in China, such as Bank of Communications or Industrial Bank. How can I transfer them to a bank here in the US? What are the fees? Thanks.

Are the accounts you have with Bank of Communications and Industrial Bank checking or time deposits? If they're time deposits that haven't matured yet, would withdrawing early mean losing interest? Also, are you clear on each bank's requirements for overseas remittances—things like the receiving bank details and what to write in the remarks?
Quick question—when you say "convert it over," do you mean converting only to USD for the transfer, or converting the RMB as well? The two are handled differently at the bank.
