Browsing Nitang feels like scrolling Tieba over a decade ago

RT, back in 2012–2015 I was obsessed with Tieba—trading shameless upvotes with fellow posters, chatting about everything under the sun, and I posted plenty of low-effort stuff myself, picking up all sorts of weird and wonderful things along the way. After real-name verification came in, Tieba felt a lot "cleaner," and people gradually stopped shitposting as much.

I just joined Nitang recently, and last night before bed I was wondering—why do I love browsing here so much? Then it hit me: maybe it's because I've found that same feeling here that I had scrolling Tieba over a decade ago...

When you say it's "much cleaner" after the real-name system, what specific changes do you mean?

This kind of "moral integrity bump" interaction is certainly unique—is it still common these days?

I think this kind of comparison is pretty interesting, but what really matters is the community atmosphere. A dozen or so years ago, Tieba moved at a slower pace—people were willing to spend time writing long replies, and even casual chat threads could lead to something worthwhile. Now the information feed is too fast. If Nitan chases that same instant buzz, that feeling probably won't last long—it'll just turn into endless scrolling and spam.

Observe for a few days before deciding how much time to invest.

There's also the caveat that it varies by section—some sections may feel closer to the old Tieba.

I'm not sure this kind of nostalgia can be directly compared. People from different regions and age groups have very different memories of Tieba—some remember the technical forums and long-form discussions, while others only remember the low-effort posts and arguments. The user base of Nitang is also different. If it's just a small group of old users trying to recapture the feeling, newcomers may not have the same experience, and over time it's easy for the community to become stratified.
