261019 — Card approved
261026 — Card shut down
On the evening of the 28th, I called 3117. The rep said they needed to verify my Social Security Number, address, and related information, and that I needed to submit it through the secure service center in the Chase app. After submitting, I called 8830 again, and they said it wasn't their department's responsibility — the responsible department is customer service — and transferred me back. I asked again for the phone number of the back-office department that handles document verification, and was told there isn't one; I can only wait for them to finish verifying.
On the evening of the 29th, I called 1316. The rep said it's also handled by customer service, and gave me the number 8004933319. It feels like the same department as 3117 — same script as yesterday, still just have to wait, no phone number for the verification department.
Sure enough, Chase approving the card so fast wasn't a good thing. The initial approval took over a week in total. After two days of back-and-forth, it's most likely because they approved my credit card application directly without asking for my three documents, and now they're coming back to complete the procedures. Has anyone had the same experience?
You'd better keep an eye on this and follow up—if it drags on too long, it could affect your credit record.
