Can most Resy gift cards not be added to the Toast app? Also, what happens if a merchant is delisted after I buy a gift card?

Over the past year I bought a bunch of gift cards.

Just downloaded the app and found most of them can't be added.

Is that normal?

Also, one merchant, Rosetta Bakery, has even been delisted from Toast.

Wondering if I got played here?

First, confirm whether these cards were issued officially by Resy or sold directly by the restaurant, since the refund process differs between the two. If you can reach the restaurant, ask first whether the balance can still be redeemed—don't rush to write off all the cards as a loss.

First, review the purchase email and the terms on the back of the card to check for any expiration dates or restrictions on where it can be used.

When you say you can't add it, do you mean the app throws an error, or that it shows as unsupported after you enter the card number? Also, is Rosetta only missing from search in Toast, or is the Resy page down too? That determines whether we should contact the platform or the merchant.

Most of them can't be added to Toast, likely because the card itself is restricted to the Resy channel or specific stores, so it's not necessarily an error; however, a merchant being delisted does make the balance hard to use—the key is still who the issuer is.

Around what time were these cards purchased, and how long ago was that?

I wouldn't jump to calling it a scam just yet. Not being able to add it to Toast doesn't necessarily mean the card is dead—some gift cards are meant to be redeemed in-store or by phone anyway. A merchant dropping off the platform could just mean they switched systems, so the safest bet is to contact the store directly to confirm the balance.

Many people treat platform lists as universal gift card directories, but it's actually quite common for merchants to switch POS systems or temporarily delist. Before buying, it's best to confirm whether the card is tied to a single store; if it's already been delisted, first ask the issuer whether a refund or transfer is possible.
