InterContinental Ambassador Night Offer Is Back!

Received an IHG email — the Ambassador membership renewal promotion is back.

In addition to the usual 15,000 points back for a cash renewal, the Ambassador Night offer has also returned.

● $225 cash renewal: You'll receive 15,000 points directly after renewing; if you complete the specified 2-night stay before the end of the year, you'll get another 10,000 points — up to 25,000 points total.

● 45,000-point renewal: Renew your Ambassador membership with points, and after completing a 2-night stay before the end of the year, you'll receive an extra 10,000 points.

The promotion runs from October 18 to December 31, 2026. The two-night stay must occur after renewal and must meet the promotion's terms — stays completed before renewal cannot simply be counted toward it.

Compared with before, the notable difference this time is: unlike previous versions, there's no longer a restriction that the Ambassador Night stay must be at an IC (InterContinental) hotel.

It's not yet clear whether this is truly a targeted offer — the email does say it's targeted, and you need to have received the email to qualify.

We really need to sort out the timing. After renewing, there are only a little over two months left until the end of the year, and we still have to find a time when we're both free to arrange the two nights—otherwise those 10,000 points will go to waste.

Do these two nights have to be booked through IHG's official channels, or does a booking made on my behalf by the Ambassador customer service team also qualify?

One thing worth noting about the targeting: the email mentions targeting but doesn't specify the exact rules, so it's best to confirm whether it only applies to the accounts that received the email, or whether some accounts can actually sign up as well. If the event page is updated later, I'd suggest also including the terms about the booking channel and room rate type requirements, so people don't make judgments based on outdated assumptions.

If you already have a stay planned before the end of the year, first check whether you received the email and whether both nights can count after your Ambassador renewal, then decide whether it's worth staying specifically for the 10,000 points; otherwise, forcing two nights just to break even may not be worthwhile.

Looking at the points renewal tier, the key question is whether those extra 10,000 points are worth planning two nights around—it won't pay off for everyone.
