Regarding the two points about having 5+ years of driving experience and being familiar with LA streets—actually, plenty of new immigrant drivers have long driving histories but may not have fully figured out LA's parking rules. For example, which blocks you can't park on at certain hours, or how to handle visitor parking at apartment buildings—these things can be more of a headache than the driving itself. I'd suggest that in a follow-up interview, you could use a few frequently visited places as examples and ask how they'd plan the route and parking. That would tell you more than just looking at years of driving experience.

When you take an elderly person out, they may walk slowly or need to use the restroom along the way. How should that time be counted?

The request specifies a male, but when it comes to caring for the elderly, gender isn't necessarily the key factor—some female drivers are more attentive and patient. If the employer's concern is physical strength, such as helping someone walk or lifting a wheelchair, then it would be better to state clearly in the requirements exactly how much strength is needed, which is more straightforward for both sides.

There's something I'd like to confirm — for the full-time Monday-to-Friday role, is it based on fixed hours, or does it follow the elderly person's schedule for the day? If it's the latter, and there are last-minute extra hours or driving needed on weekends, how is overtime calculated, and can we agree on a cap in advance? It's best to ask about all this over the phone first, so you don't find out once you've started that your time is too tightly locked in.
