Just looking at the billing address for tax-free states doesn't always work. Some carriers calculate taxes based on the number's registered location or service address. Is the address you changed the billing address or the service address?
When you mention PAYG, do you mean the prepaid kind? If it's prepaid, the tax might be added at the top-up stage rather than on the monthly bill, in which case changing your address may not affect it. Also, how exactly does Tello's wireless credit get applied—does it directly reduce the plan fee, or is it listed as a separate line item? If it's convenient, could you share the tax line items and rates on your bill? That would make it easier to figure out which part isn't matching up.
Some states do charge separate taxes on prepaid wireless service, which doesn't necessarily align with tax-free state policies.
Just a heads-up: after changing your address, it's best to wait until the next billing cycle to check. Some systems still withhold tax based on the old address, so the change may not take effect right away in the current cycle.
Is this tax applied to the wireless credit portion, or is it added to the entire bill?
