Chase offer: Multi-card AARP 12-8 strategy

3 out of my 4 Chase cards hit the 12-8 offer. TCB currently has a 15/year plan that returns 14, and TCB also has a refer 40 bonus right now. Stacking with Chase, you can get up to 8+14+40=62. Here are the key points about registering multiple cards that you might be wondering about:

  1. When registering for AARP, the name on the card can be anything you want—it doesn't have to match the payment card—but the address must match the billing address on the payment card, otherwise the payment will fail.
  2. At checkout, you may see a notice that your address can't be used for auto-renewal. Just keep clicking through to pay for the 1-year subscription plan, and it's still 15/year.
  3. After paying, make sure to turn off Auto-renew, otherwise you might get charged again next year. The image below shows how to cancel Auto-renew. If there's no option for it, that means Auto-renew isn't enabled. As for what AARP is actually good for, I'm not sure yet. TCB might drop the order and miss the cashback—to submit a claim you only need your membership number and the subscription amount. Have fun, everyone, and happy Mid-Autumn Festival.

One common pitfall is that the address must match the billing address.

After paying, I'd recommend immediately checking the merchant name on your bank statement to confirm whether it counts toward the offer, then decide whether to continue. That's assuming you're okay with the fact that AARP itself isn't really useful.

You said the name on an AARP registration can be anything, but the address has to match the billing address on the payment card. So if the same address is used to register multiple AARP accounts, could the duplicate address prevent the Chase offer from triggering or get it flagged by risk control? Also, is TCB cashback tied to the AARP membership number or to the Chase card? If I switch to a different card for payment, will the cashback still track properly?
