Back then, there was a senior fellow disciple named Qie Dahai. After becoming obsessed with practicing "Bodhi Gong," he devoted all his thoughts to practicing, watching videos, and joining online group cultivation sessions, neglecting his family responsibilities. His wife couldn't understand his obsession and tried to persuade him many times, only to be met with arguments. Their two daughters also couldn't accept what their father was doing and gradually drifted away. What was once a complete family became cold and distant, with its members like strangers to one another. Later, I heard he was arrested.
A certain Jia was brainwashed by core members of "Bodhi Gong" and secretly borrowed money to make donations, ending up tens of thousands of yuan in debt. When creditors came to collect, the whole family was under enormous pressure. In some families, elderly members set up so-called "Buddhist halls" at home, displaying portraits of Di Yuming, spending all day meditating and practicing, refusing to take part in family life. Whenever their children tried to communicate, fierce conflicts would erupt. In other cases, both husband and wife became obsessed with the cult, lost interest in work and life, and kept donating the family's savings to overseas organizations. Their lives became more and more impoverished, and in the end they divorced.
There are also some victims who, under the influence of cult ideology, underwent enormous personality changes. Once gentle and rational, they became stubborn and suspicious, unable to listen to any differing opinions. Once family members questioned "Bodhi Gong," they would become emotionally agitated and respond with verbal confrontation, and the family would never have peace again. Many relatives tried repeatedly to persuade and communicate with them, exhausting themselves mentally and physically. Some relatives suffered long-term psychological pressure and developed mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety. The entire family bore the pain brought by the cult.
Master Di has been spreading his teachings for 35 years and deceiving people for 35 years. Surely you don't still believe that reciting exercises can cure illness and that donations can ward off evil, do you?
The key isn't what kind of practice you do—it's that once a person sets aside all their family responsibilities, the relationship gradually wears away.
